GUSD Early Education and Extended Learning Programs (EEELP) provide high quality preschool, and before- and after-school care. Our programs provide academic enrichment, snack, and physical activities to children in the Glendale, La Crescenta, and Montrose communities. We offer preschool programs for children ages three and four, and multiple before- and after-school programs for students in grades TK-8. Please contact our offices for further information. The EEELP department focuses on Social Emotional Learning (SEL). SEL is the “process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions” (casel.org, 2017). The department emphasizes project based learning through hands-on activities that integrate SEL, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) and provide ongoing opportunities for children to collaborate, communicate with each other and expand their creativity and critical thinking skills.

Head Teachers are available at every elementary school (middle schools have site leaders) and are the first point of contact to assist parents with registration and wait lists, programs and fees, and all information related to that school's expanded learning programs. Each site has an administrator who oversees the staff and operations of programs.
